Upper blepharoplasty requires particular attention to the design, adapted to the shape of the eye, so that the scar naturally follows the contours and respects the upper eyelid crease. The marking is conceived like artistic make-up, to ensure a high-quality, discreet, and well-placed scar.

The Surgical Techniques

A/ Upper blepharoplasty

The procedure is performed with absorbable sutures, which fall out around the 6th or 7th day.

✓Anesthesia: local or local with sedation; general anesthesia possible at the patient's request
✓Procedure duration: short
✓Stay: day hospital, without hospitalization

Recovery: specific instructions for the first 48 hours to avoid marks, with recovery generally within a week.

B/ Lower blepharoplasty

Lower blepharoplasty can be performed via the transcutaneous or transconjunctival route depending on the case and the objective. It often requires general anesthesia, lasts about an hour, and is performed in a day hospital, without prolonged hospitalization.

Transcutaneous Route

The incision is made just below the lash line so the scar is as invisible as possible. This approach allows removal of the internal, median, and lateral fat pockets and, if necessary, a slight tightening of the skin. Skin removal is limited to avoid the complications common to this route, such as ectropion or changes to the gaze that can round the eye. Recovery includes swelling and bruising, which vary from patient to patient.

Transconjunctival Route

This technique accesses the fat pockets through the conjunctiva, inside the eye, with no visible scar. When well performed, it causes very little post-operative recovery, and as early as the next day the gaze appears natural, without bruising or scarring.
